As the factory grew in Zlin housing for the workers became a problem as there was a lack of space to build new homes. Tomas Bata decided to build a new town from the ground up, the architecture was to be similar to Zlin and it would provide more housing in the manner he needed for his workers. The name of this town was Batov, later this was changed to Otrokovice.
