Dorothy Pratt was elected to the “Workers Parliament”, where the workers’ representatives regularly meet members of the Company’s executive round the Conference Table, by a majority of 42 votes at the last general election.

Thirty-six years of age, she first came to East Tilbury in 1935 and worked in the rubber factory until production there stopped during the war. After working in another war factory, she returned to East Tilbury three years ago and went into the sewing section of Dept 423 as soon as that department opened.
