Playing “Wishie Washie” one of the principal comedy parts of “Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp”, the pantomime which the dramatic section of the Bata Sports and Social Club is putting on January 21 and 28, is a young actor of performance as well as promised - 16 year old Brian Smith of Dept 680. Brian has had stage experience with Hassenbrook players of Stanford-le-Hope, with whom he has acted in three plays, and he will be remembered for the excellent way he portrayed the part of “Young Alfie” in the short play which formed part of the Bata Dramatic Group’s Coronation Show, “Coronation Cavalcade.”
“Wishie Washie” is not in the original story of “Aladdin”, but it is a character which has appeared in the pantomime for many years. As a collector of laundry and general assistant to “Widow Twankey”, the part is full of laughs and Brian is proving himself equal to it.
