A part in the pantomime “Aladdin and his wonderful lamp”, which calls for a consistently good singing voice is that of “Princess So-Shi”. In this respect the dramatic section of Bata Sports and Social Club, which is producing the show in the New Year, is fortunate.
The part will be played by Veronica Allott of Dept 342, who although she has been in East Tilbury for only three months, so demonstrated that her voice is of exceptionally high standard - fact which is not surprising, considering that she has played foremost singing parts in several well known operettas, including “Glamorous Night”, “The Dancing Years”, Balalaika”, and “The Pied Piper”.
Aged 19, Veronica is daughter-in-law of Foreman Bill Allott, of Dept 301, and has had nine years experience of the amateur stage having been a member of the Ashton Operatic Society, Manchester, as well as acting in school plays and pantomimes. Her experiences of the light opera field enables her to do full justice to the attractive sons which her section is using in “Aladdin”.
