Busy store in a busy street. - 1963
British Bata has had its store in High Street, Rochester, for very nearly thirty years and, although it is comparatively small, it does good business and is most consistent in its trading in categories of footwear. It was one of the early shops to come in the modernisation programme and the work was completed towards the end of 1956. This was a complete transformation and not only brightened up the store but brightened up the whole of Rochester’s High Street.
It is managed by Mrs Nora Morgan, whose husband is manager of the Company’s store at Herne Bay.
Mrs Morgan joined the Company as a saleswoman at Moss-Side, Manchester, in 1943, and some time later was selected as a trainee manageress and had experience in several stores before being appointed to Rochester.
