Alf Taylor - 9 December 1938.

Alf Taylor began working in the leather factory in November, 1933, tacking straps on Department 422. He was engaged later on pulling over and ,after a short time, was given the job of heel lasting. He used the automatic heel laster when it was first introduced into the factory and gained practical experience of the whole lasting section.
In 1935 he was sent to Zlin to learn all about the production of slippers and, after several months training at most of the operations on a slipper conveyor, he returned to Tilbury to open the slipper department here.
As soon as the department was running smoothly Foreman Taylor was transferred to the production of Monolit shoes and has been engaged on that type of footwear ever since.
Since he has been foreman, Taylor has won several factory competitions and was top of the Leather Factory assembly departments in Quality and results in the recent “First Five years competition”. This half year he has attended the Saturday luncheon as top foreman no less than ten times.
