Tall, popular Bill Cooper has been selected to feature in the collumn this week for his hard and conscientious work throughout the four years he has been with the Company.
He began in the rubber factory during January, 1935 and after a short training period, he was appointed checker on Department 387. Very soon afterwards he progressed still further and became foreman of Department 322.
In July, 1936, he visited Zlin to learn more about rubber shoe production and also had the opportunity of increasing his knowledge of rubber manipulation.
When he returned to East Tilbury he served as an instructor in the rubber factory for a few months and was later transferred to foreman of Department 323. Since he has managed this department he has been among the leaders in several competitions and has been top factory foreman on numerous occasions.
Further information on Bill Cooper taken from the Bata Record.
Bata Record dated 2nd June 1939 carried the following announcement together with the picture on the left:
Last weekend, Mr Bill Cooper, foreman of Department 323 announced his engagement to Miss Louise Ince of Nevendon.
