Mr Frederick Bennett first started in the leather factory in September, 1933 in the manipulation department 401. He served a preliminary period there before being appointed manipulator to Department 431. It was his job to collect and check all materials for use the next day as well as setting credits and shortages.
He later moved to Department 423 where he was engaged on the same kind of work. Then he had his first promotion. In 1935 he was appointed chief manipulator to the leather factory. Here he controlled all materials and sundries issued to the leather factory assembly departments.
After two years in this job, Mr Bennett visited Zlin for one year to learn all about clicking upper and textile materials and manufacturing leather heels.
On his return to East Tilbury he was made foreman of Department 407 which position he holds at the present time.
Mr Bennett is now twenty-two years old and lives at Civic Square, Tilbury.
