January 27th 1939
This week we feature Foreman Pat Rogers, who tops the Rubber Factory with 96% result against estimate. Pat Rogers at the age of 16, began working in the rubber factory in January, 1934, pulling-over on Department 323. In a short while he had learned toe-lasting as well and was transferred to that operation. Before the end of the year he was able to fit vamps and was engaged by Department 321 to do that job. In this way Rogers soon had practical experience of most operations on the conveyor and in June, 1935, he was promoted to manipulator. In his new position he had the opportunity to learn all about materials and the system. As was to be expected, he advanced still further and was promoted to foreman of Department 332.
Mr Rogers visited Zlin during 1937 to gain more experience in making rubber shoes and since he has returned his department has won several competitions and topped the weekly results list on many occasions.
