In April, 1934, Reg Clear started work in the Rubber Factory on the hydraulic presses of Department 301. He was then 24 years old and was one of the man y pressmen moulding soles and heels for the assembly departments. On several occasions he was awarded special cash premiums for good work and was marked for promotion.
In 1935 he visited Zlin for training in all the processes of pressing rubber soles and heels, and in September 1936 was promoted to foreman of Department 302. Mr Clear has a practical knowledge of all the operations in his department and for many weeks, since his promotion, Department 302 has had the best result against estimate. In September last year Mr Clear's department wastop of the Rubber Manipulation in the "Five Years Work Competition".
Since commencing work with the company Mr Clear has married and now lives on the Bata estate at 62 King George VI Avenue.
