Reginald Edward William Hayes a Greaser in the Merchant Navy, aboard S.S.Orcades and initially from Tilbury.
Died on Saturday 10th October 1942, aged 26.
He was one of the first Englishmen to join the Bata Company going to Zlin in 1932 to learn the art of designing. He stayed there until 1935 when he came to East Tilbury as a Shoe Designer.
